The Living Planet Symposium 2022 took place during May 23-27, 2022 with great success and participation of representatives from academia, research, industry, policy, etc.

 GGO singled out with several representations:

Dr. Evangelos Gerasopoulos, in his capacity as “Urban Heritage Climate Observatory – UHCO” co-leader, was among the esteemed panelists of “Future for Heritage” session. The session covered recent developments regarding the use of innovative technologies used in the Cultural Heritage sector, perspectives on emerging needs, policies, open issues, future goals, and other potential challenges.

Our EIFFEL project offered the opportunity to plunge into its world through an elaborative paper-poster entitled “Deep Learning Based Sentinel-2 Super Resolution Methods for Supporting Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation Applications”.

Orestis Speyer defended our group’s front-runner work on the use of Earth observation for smart statistics under the Sustainable Development Goals poster session with a poster on first results from the GAUSS project entitled “GAUSS: Generating Advanced Usage of Earth Observation for Smart Statistics”.

This year the symposium focused on how Earth Observation contributes to science and society, and how disruptive technologies and actors are changing the traditional Earth Observation landscape, which is also creating new opportunities for public and private sector interactions.
